AMBER-Dawn Bear Robe
Amber-Dawn Bear Robe (Siksika Nation) is a Fashion Curator and Fashion Show Producer, with a focus on contemporary Indigenous fashion. She is the Founder of the SWAIA Native Fashion Show & Week, which are Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA) programming. Recently, she was Assistant Faculty of Native Art History in the Museum Studies department at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA). Bear Robe’s projects center on the intersection of Indigenous art practices with fashion and design. She holds a Master of Arts in American Indian Studies and a second Master of Arts in Art History, both earned from the University of Arizona. Bear Robe has been recognized with Regional Emmy Awards in 2020 and 2021 for her role as a producer in two documentary short films highlighting Indigenous fashion designers. In October 2023, Bear Robe was honored with the Canadian Arts & Fashion Changemaker Award, and in 2024 she spearheaded a CAFA Award for Indigenous Fashion—the first of its kind. Additionally, Bear Robe sits on the editorial board for the Costume Society of America (CSA) and acts as a Board of Trustee member for the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF). Her recent fashion programming include Future Imaginaries: Indigenous Art, Fashion, Technology at The Autry Museum of the American West, September 7, 2024 – June 21, 2026, PST Art X The Autry: Fashioning Indigenous Futurism Runway Show At The Getty, September, 30, 2024 and a forthcoming exhibition at The Textiles Museum of Canada, 2025.
